Sustainable gastronomy: "Cuiner de l'any" of the Gastronomic Forum 09

This year's edition of Forum Gastronomic Girona 09 celebrates its tenth anniversary with the launch of the award "Cuiner de l'Any", cook of the year.

This is what is intended to recognize the work of young emerging chefs and entrepreneurs - today still little known - who practice what this part has for a time been called sustainable gastronomy: that is, the one that cooks co-workers with local producers and their awareness of organic productions.

The finalists have been selected by a jury formed by chef Carles Gaig; the director of the Gastronomic Forum, Pep Palau; journalists Pau Arenós (El Periódico), Salvador García-Arbós (El Punt) and Josep Sucarrats (Descobrir Cuina) and businessman Ramon Raventós.

From now on, the votes are open to the public: all those who want to vote can do so - until February 8 - through various methods that will be conveniently explained on the official prize site: www.cuinerdelany.com

Among all the participants, a hotel night will be raffled in a suite of the Grand Hotel Central of Barcelona with dinner included for two people in the Avalon restaurant of the same hotel, served by chef Ramon Freixa.

The award will be announced during the inaugural event of the Fòrum Grastronòmic Girona 09 on February 20.

  • Lola Puig (The Fort, Ullastret)
  • Santi Rebés and Fidel Puig (Embat, Barcelona)
  • Joan Maria Ribas (Melba, Vic)
